Left Turn Car Accidents - What Not to Do

Proudly Serving Clients in Seattle, Tacoma & nearby areas of Washington

Left Turn Car Accidents - What to DOBecause the primary duty to avoid collision rests with the left-turning driver[1], one should not proceed with a left-turn unless he/she is certain it is safe to make the turn.  Even in collisions where the oncoming driver was speeding or driving unlawfully (e.g. making erratic lane changes, etc) courts have found negligence on the left-turning driver.[2]

Also, one must signal his/her intention to turn for at least 100 feet before turning[3] and also look to the rear to make sure it is safe to make a left-turn.[4]

If you or a loved one has been injured in a left-turn motor vehicle accident, please call Buckley & Associates today at (206) 622-1100. We serve clients in Seattle and Tacoma, Washington.
